2022/23 : Toys

Congratulations to the Integrated Design Engineering class of 2022/23 for an incredible 11 weeks of work.

The theme for this year was toys, having bought what felt like one of everything I could find on Amazon (from Nerf guns and MyLittlePonies to radio controlled diggers and bubble machines). Each student was given a single toy and asked to analyse three topics (2 pages on each); User Experience, Component Role & Function and the Manufacturing, Assembly & Cost of their products. The aim was (as always) to uncover the designer’s intent behind every decision rather than just pointing out the obvious. We’ve never seen inside these products before so it’s an exploration for everyone.

Also thanks to Melle, Ian and Jamie for supporting the class this year, answering questions and sharing expertise.

Below are some examples of this years work (arranged in no particular order). Enjoy!
